Welcome to the latest patch notes for Gate of Abyss! In this update, we’re thrilled to bring you substantial improvements to the game’s economy, dungeons, and loot system along with many bug fixes. Our team has worked tirelessly to refine the economic balance, enhance the dungeon experience, and revamp the loot distribution to ensure a more rewarding and immersive journey for all players. 

Whether you’re a veteran explorer of the abyss or just beginning your adventure, these changes are set to provide a fresh and exciting challenge. Get ready to dive deeper into the depths of Gate of Abyss and uncover the treasures that await!

Economy

We’ve made significant adjustments to the in-game economy to achieve a more balanced relationship between Gin and Gold. We’ve revitalized Gin’s value, ensuring it plays a more meaningful role in the game. This change is designed to enhance the overall experience for players, providing increased benefits and strategic opportunities when using Gin.

  • Gin and Gold: In our updated economy, players now have the option to exchange Gin for Gold at a player shop with the rate of 1 Gin for 100 Gold. This adjustment addresses a previous issue where Gin and Gold functioned too similarly, diluting their distinct roles in Gate of Abyss. To further differentiate these currencies, all in-game purchases, including portals and dungeon access, will now require Gold instead of Gin. This change aims to streamline the economy and provide clearer, more strategic uses for each currency.
  • Potions: Potions will no longer increase in price as players buy more.
  • Gin Drop Rates: Gin percentage drop from Greater mobs and Outposts has been decreased (5% for Outposts, 3% for Greater Mobs).

Blacksmith: The Blacksmith now only requires gold and players can optionally buy an Upgrade Stone for the cost of Gin to increase chances of a successful craft.

Portals

Portals have been a major avenue for players to acquire large amounts of Gin and Gold, often overshadowing their usefulness for obtaining gear. We’ve implemented changes to rebalance this aspect, ensuring that portals offer a more balanced distribution of rewards, including valuable gear, alongside the currencies. This adjustment aims to enhance the overall portal experience and provide players with more meaningful loot.

Rewards: To ensure a fairer distribution of loot, we have eliminated the last-hit rewards system for Portals. Additionally, we’ve removed standalone Gold, Gin, and gear from the portal rewards. In their place, we’ve introduced newly designed chests that contain a balanced mix of Gin, gear, materials, and Gold. This change is aimed at enhancing the reward system and providing a more equitable and enjoyable experience for all players participating in portal events.

We’ve updated the portal health and corresponding gear level rewards to provide a more balanced and rewarding experience:

  • Portals with 5 million health will now drop gear ranging from levels 20 to 29.
  • Portals with 7 million health will drop gear ranging from levels 25 to 34.
  • Portals with 7.5 million health will also drop gear ranging from levels 25 to 34.
  • Portals with 10 million health will drop gear ranging from levels 30 to 39.
  • Portals with 12 million health will drop gear ranging from levels 35 to 44.
  • Portals with 15 million health will drop gear ranging from levels 40 to 50.

These adjustments ensure that the challenge of each portal is appropriately matched with the value of the rewards, enhancing the overall gameplay experience.

We’ve introduced a new range of chests as rewards for successfully completing portals. These chests are designed to provide a more exciting and varied loot experience for players, enhancing the sense of achievement and discovery.

  • Divine Chest: 1st place
  • Reaper’s Strongbox: 2nd-5th place
  • Abyssal Coffer: 6th-10th place
  • Chthonic Pouch: 11th-20th place
  • Reaper’s Strongbox: Open
  • Chthonic Pouch: Join

Outposts and Hunting Events

To make the newly introduced hunting events more rewarding and engaging for both players and creators, we’ve implemented several changes to the reward system, aiming to enhance the overall excitement and satisfaction associated with these events.

  • Outposts: We’ve observed that some regions with an excessive number of outposts, due to glitches with certain land plots, have been disproportionately favored for hosting hunting events. This imbalance has led to other players’ events being overlooked unless they were held on these glitched lands. To rectify this, we’ve removed outposts from hunting events, ensuring that players can concentrate on the intended monsters and creating a level playing field for all participants.

Dungeons

We’ve also tweaked dungeons to make it a more challenging and rewarding experience for players. This update will introduce a series of changes aimed at enhancing the overall dungeon experience, ensuring that they offer both the excitement and difficulty that players seek.

  • Floor Difficulty: We’ve fine-tuned the dungeon difficulty to create a more tailored experience. Now, the mob level on the first floor will match the player’s level, with each subsequent floor increasing the mob level by 1. This adjustment ensures a progressive challenge that scales with the player’s progression.
  • Weekly Reset Timer: We’ve introduced a countdown timer for dungeons, which displays the time remaining until the weekly reset. This feature helps players plan their dungeon runs more effectively, ensuring they can make the most of their opportunities before the reset.
